lizard lake

Frank and I had been wanting to get away and get into the wilderness. My parents gave us a whole bunch of great camping gear when we saw them at the end of the summer so we were all equipped and just needed to find the time. Which is not so easy to do. But Saturday morning with the car all packed we took off bright and early. We drove the 1 1/2 hour drive to Port Renfrew on the windy road in dire need of repair. Then we turned off and headed inland another 1/2 hour up to lizard lake.
We ended up seeing a lot more campers than we thought we would. We weren't sure that so many would be braving the chilly weather this time of year. We actually had gorgeous weather yesterday though. Mostly we kept ourselves warm wearing plenty of layers and relaxing by the blazing fire (Frank was all about finding lots of wood).
I tried my best to do all of my readings. It was hard- as I easily got distracted by nothing- really just wanting to simply sit and listen to the nothing.
It was a fabulous weekend, one that we want to repeat as soon as possible. Hopefully next time all of our friends who let their schedules be too busy will be able to join us!

i'm there! it's always handy to have a nurse on site when that fire gets out of hand (looks like yours could use a tad of help though) :).

Radical - just looked at your blog and saw that you were at Lizard lake!!! That was the first camping place we went to after moving here on the island - Jer and I slept in a three man tent with Lori and Ryan - we loved the campground. Glad you had fun!!
