Weekend in VanCity

On Friday night after work we drove up to Nanaimo to crash at the Parrish farm (no one was there! what kind of a visit is that!). We had to get up bright and early the next morning to meet my mom and Michael on the 7:55am ferry to Horseshoe Bay. It was hard to get out of bed that early, but you've got to do what you've got to do.

We spent the weekend with Mom and Michael eating, shopping and having a great time. We met up with Tyler later on Saturday. Actually we went to his place and while there decided to play some Rock Band. Nothing like rocking out as a family band. Especially with my mom who killed on the guitar even though it was her first try!

We had to go out for all you can eat sushi at Tanpopo. We had to. This family loves the sushi and can eat massive amounts of it!

Tyler, as always, looks very happy to be involved in the family photo.
Afterwards we went for a long walk along the beach at English bay and around the seawall.

Frank and I were spoiled with the stay at the Sutton. It is so nice to stay in a hotel!
Sunday was more eating, shopping, wandering around.
In the afternoon we headed out to West Van to my aunt and uncles place. I haven't seen them or their kids in years! And my cousin and I share the same birthday so we did a little hoopla for that coming occasion and we all caught up and ate a fabulous dinner together.
I, ever the planner, did not in fact check the ferry schedule and instead just assumed that there would be an eight pm boat. Around 7 I mentioned this and other, more responsible people, did a check for me. Boy was I wrong! It was 7:30 or 9:30. And since we had to drive from Nanaimo back to Victoria we had to fly the coup! We made it though. And lucky we did. On the highway home there was an accident and we ended up being stopped for awhile and not getting home until midnight. But it was worth it! What a fun weekend getaway!
